PPF & PPFD Breakdown

• Plants use sunlight as energy. Grow lights are designed to mimic the light plants use from the sun.

• PPF is the amount of “sunlight energy” being emitted from the light source.

• PPFD is the amount of “sunlight energy” that reaches a given area on a plan.

• Think of PPF as a raincloud. It is how much rain the cloud is producing. Think of PPFD as the flower in your garden getting part of that rain.
